N. L. C. Batt, M.H.A. was first elected to Parliament as an Australian Labor Party member in May 1969. He was Chief Secretary and Minister for Transport from May 1972 to April 1974; Minister for Education etc. from April 1974 to November 1977; Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Economic Planning from December 1977.
